Don’t desire a platform unless you’re willing to die to some desires of your own

Updated: Jul 18

I know this is salty. It burned me too..but it was from the Lord. If we are honest, we all have compared out of insecurity. And we’ve even disqualified others in our mind. But what is this rooted in? And what does the Bible say about it?

God reminded me of the life of Paul. Paul did some pretty huge things in the name of Jesus, didn’t he? But it came with a huge price for him. At an outside glance, it’s an honor to write 13 books of the Bible, see the risen Christ, and launch Christianity. But who signs up to be decapitated, shipwrecked, beaten, imprisoned, outcast, and lonesome ? #truth

But with his great platform, came greater suffering and sacrifice.

Too many of us like a calling with some comfort. (Been here for sure)

God showed me today,

You want a platform and to be a mighty man or woman of God, you better be willing to die to some things, like Paul.

But, really, what do we Christians do to each other ?? Think about it. For example....

A friend writes a book.

Writes a blog.

Starts a podcast.

Shares a testimony.

Begins to serve.

Preaches a sermon. Begins a bible study.

Starts a ministry.

Quits their job to become a missionary.

And what do we do?

Some of us sit back and watch and wait for them to fail. We don’t support them. We don’t encourage them. And secretly we think “well they’re not qualified for that and shouldn’t be doing it”. Or, we think “well why am I not doing that instead of them?”

(It’s the same reason you’ll support a franchise but not a mom trying to earn extra money with a small business)

But, we fail to remember that God only exalts the humble.

Often before you see someone’s winning season, they had a losing season.

Often before you see someone on a mountain, they were in a valley.

Often before the anointing, comes the crushing, pruning and growing pains.

Likewise, when you see someone on fire 🔥, they’ve likely walked through the fire.

Don’t desire a platform unless you’re willing to die to some desires of your own.

We can’t desire someone’s shoes unless were willing to walk their shoes.

Remember Jesus tells us not to worry about what he wills for others, because we have a job to do ourselves; and that’s to follow Him. (See John 21) It’s not my job to look at someone and decide if they’re qualified. God has never consulted me (or man) for whom he calls and qualifies and he never will.

So,

The next time you see a sister or brother “winning”, and you feel like you’re losing...instead of putting them down or secretly disqualifying them.....praise God for them!!!! Pray them through it. Commend them on their courage and their boldness for Christ. ENCOURAGE THEM because JESUS is being proclaimed.

You see the lie we believe is: “they’re winning, so I’m losing. They’re my competition. “

No no no no.....no no no NO!!!!

The truth is: this ain’t about YOU or ME or THEM. IT’S about HIM.

We’re not going to see the kingdom advanced if we’re busy comparing or trying to be someone else.

We’re not going to see a huge movement of God if we don’t let go of some of our pride, jealousy and selfishness.

We are not in competition with “gifts” we are in competition with an enemy!!

When it comes to our callings to minister and share the gospel...some of us God will use to be diggers of the soil, or planters of the seed, or the waterers , or the pruners, or the tenders, or the gatherers. And some of you will get to be miracle grow! 🌱😀

But only JESUS is the sorter!

So WHAT....if that person is watering....go dig the next hole! So WHAT if that person is panting the seed...praise God because now there’s a plant that will need watered.

The body of Christ is meant to function in unity and unison. It doesn’t mean we’re the same.

THAT friends, is when I believe we’ll see a movement of God. The work starts inside us. And a lot of us have believed a false truth or our motives have shifted when serving. It’s time to stop, confess, pivot and shift our focus back where it should be.

Serving, leadership, positions, and platforms were never meant to be about ourselves or someone else. Only Jesus and obedience to His calling.

So we do our part.

And we encourage others when we see them doing it.

And we do it together.

1 Corinthians 12:25-27

This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.
